| South Padre Island, TEXAS All you might ask for in an ocean front vacation: several miles of clean, 4 to 6 foot waves and great sand for building that castle of your dreams. Numerous beach front condominiums and town homes are available with breathtaking views of the Gulf and the sunrises are beyond compare! Bayside properties offer fantastic sunsets and some of these properties also have docks for your personal watercraft, just steps from your door. Fishing in the Gulf of Mexico or in the Laguna Madre Bay are both offered by “Party Boat” style outings, or guided adventures are available on a daily basis. Para- sailing, Dolphin boat tours, Jet Ski rentals, and horseback riding are but a few of the additional activities available here on the Island. Fine dining in numerous restaurants, or catch your own and have them cook it your way! There are a number of “Franchised” fast food facilities and “Mom & Pop joints” open at all hours for that quick lunch or a late night snack. Don’t forget about the many places to enjoy a cocktail and dancing. We have developed a list of contact information for many of the activities, restaurants and other services in the area for your convenience. If you would like a copy, please call or email me, and it will be provided with no obligation. For an excellent “Day Trip”, Matamoros, México, is approximately 25 minutes away. García’s Restaurant, Bar, and Store is just one block across the border and offers secured parking, fine dining, a lounge for dancing and shopping in one location. Don’t forget to stop in and shop at one of the DUTY- FREE stores before crossing over, the prices make it well worth a look! Port Isabel, Texas Port Isabel, a quaint fishing and shrimping village, offers a number of restaurants, museums, charter boat and pier fishing, and much more. The old light house, more than 150 years old, is a must-see, it is located in the “smallest” state park in Texas. It is surrounded by several unusual shops and great eating places. Port Isabel is home to one of the largest shrimp fishing fleets in the United States. You will remember the time you spent in Port Isabel. Laguna Vista, Texas This quiet, residential community is located on the mainland shores of the Laguna Madre Bay just a few miles down the road from Port Isabel on Texas Park Road #100. While in Laguna Vista, be sure to go by the site of Jean Lafitte’s Well. This notorious pirate made Port Isabel his home and tradition says that he obtained his fresh water supply from this well. South Padre Island Golf Course Community On the edge of Laguna Vista, this gated, restricted community offers everything from 2 bedroom, 2 bath condominiums, Casitas, Villas and Hacienda's to 6 bedroom custom built single family residences. Additionally there are Harbor Town Homes with boat slips. One 18 hole championship course is currently available, and a par three 18 hole course is almost completed for Owners only! Three pools (two heated), Club house, excellent gym, restaurant are all available to an owner or guest. Just a few minutes from South Padre Island and the Gulf of Mexico, the South Padre Island Golf Course Community is an excellent place to live. Some units are available for rental. Bayview, Texas For those who require larger yards (up to several acres) with a much more country style environment and Resaca (water) frontage, Bayview has much to offer. This area is also home to the Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, a “birder’s” paradise. Don’t be surprised to see a large alligator sticking its head out of the water or a Bob Cat walking in the road. In this area there are many homes with their own citrus groves. This is real country living with a tropical flare. Matamoros, México Only 25 minutes away from the Island, this border town offers almost endless places and activities of interest. Like no other border town I have ever visited, once you get “into town” one may find 5 star hotels, malls, virtually everything you might find in your home town at Mexican prices! One may experience everything from ballet to bull fighting, gambling, fine food, and shopping. There is nothing more interesting than to spend an afternoon sitting in the main plaza just people-watching. Remember medications can be purchased with your U.S. Prescriptions at very reasonable prices. Don’t miss this experience. Nuevo Progreso, Mexico A little over an hour away, this is another border town that offers the classic style shopping, great food and even cheaper pharmacy, so I have heard! I know a pharmacist there who has done wonders for some of my friends! Hector Rodriguez's Pharmacy and Shop in the Progreso Market. Hector speaks excellent English and can give you pricing and availability via email (farma_rdz1@hotmail.com) if you have an interest.
